15 May is Conscientious Objector Day. To mark this day, each year the Quaker Service Memorial Trust hold a Meeting for Worship at the Quaker service memorial which is located at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
For 2018, the Meeting for Worship will take place on Tuesday 15th May at 2:30pm. QSMT Trustees will be at the Arboretum main reception from 2:00 pm to meet and greet Friends from neighbouring meetings. We will depart from the Arboretum building at 2:15 to walk to the memorial site, allowing 15 minutes.
There is limited seating at the memorial site – a cushion is advisable, or a folding chair if you prefer to sit rather than stand during Meeting for Worship which will last for half an hour – weather permitting .
The National Memorial Arboretum (NMA) is open from 9:00-5:00.There is no charge for admission, with parking at £3 per vehicle for the day, pay and display. The car park is situated about a 10 minute walk from the main entrance; it is possible to drop people off at the entrance and then go and park in the car park. There are disabled parking spaces on the main site. If meetings have arranged a minibus please contact the NMA in advance, 01283 245100, so that they can advise you about parking.
The Arboretum has a good café with a wide selection of food and drink.
