International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
To mark this day, the Quaker Service Memorial Trust will be holding a Meeting for Worship on Thursday 21 September at 2:30 pm at the Quaker service memorial which is located at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
The National Memorial Arboretum (NMA) is open from 9:00-5:00.There is no charge for admission, with parking at £3 per vehicle for the day, pay and display. There are two car parks; the main car park is a ten minute walk from the Arboretum entrance, the car park at the main site is reserved for blue badge holders, drop off and general parking spaces. If meetings have arranged a minibus please contact the NMA in advance on 01283 245 100 so that they can advise you about parking.
The Arboretum has a café/restaurant with a wide selection of food and drink.
QSMT Trustees will be at the Arboretum main reception from 1:45 pm to meet and greet Friends from neighbouring meetings. We will depart from the Arboretum building at 2:00 pm to walk to the memorial site.
There is limited seating at the memorial site – a cushion is advisable, or a folding chair if you prefer to sit rather than stand during Meeting for Worship which will last for half an hour – weather permitting .
